Remember when I asked about these puppies?
Most of you thought they were yellow and black Labradors, but Jess figured out that their proportions were way off when compared to normal large breed puppies.
She was right.
These are Scottish terrier puppies. Here they are with their mother:
One of the black puppies appears a bit off.
That’s because it’s a brindle.
The yellow puppies are wheaten Scottish terriers, which are e/e red to yellows, just like golden retrievers.
Most Scottish terriers of this color are on the paler end of the spectrum, but there are some darker yellows around.

We’ll I’ll be–didn’t realize that Scotties and Wheaties were the same breed.
Soft-coated wheaten terriers are different breed, but there are wheaten Scottish terriers. Wheaten just means the color of wheat.
And Wheaton is outside of Chicago.
In re wheaten Scotties–that’s a new one on me.
In re Wheaton, IL–I know–its where I had to register for the draft. As a teen I also did yard work for some of the professors at Wheaton Bible College. A dry town, Wheaton’s where I couldn’t order a “Daiquiri-flavored” sorbet (hint, no alchohol) because I was “underage” at the time.
